Marissa & Vince

From the bride, Marissa:

The first night we met, Vince and I were just expecting to have a fun night out with friends and little did we know that God had a plan for us. After four years of dating and now one month of marriage, we are lucky to call each other a best friend, a teammate,  and a soulmate. We are always there to lift each other up, challenge each other, and most of, have fun together!

First, we chose Paradise Point for our wedding venue because it meant so much to my mom and I as it represented the best family memories from our first trip to San Diego and joyous memories with my dad. Once we chose our venue, I had a Pintrest party nearly every night and I decided that we were looking towards an Italian family style, beachy, and a hint of whimsical theme. Vince and I wanted it to be a relaxed and intimate wedding so we had our ceremony in a cozy, outdoor location with tons of foliage and the reception was inside a ballroom facing Mission Bay. We wanted long, family style tables with garland and candles and we incorporated soft colors like blush, ivory, champagne, olive green, and gold for the florals and decor.

I wish that we had more time for DIY projects but we didn’t! Time just flew! We did create an advice board where guests could attach their sweet marriage advice for us. My good friend from Fern and Vine Floral Design created the signage for the ceremony entrance and for the ring bearer. One of my bridesmaids and I also had a blast crafting some of our own Photo Booth props by painting and bedazzling hand held props and writing fun phrases.

There were too many wonderful memories to count, but I have two special moments that stand out in my head! My first favorite moment was meeting Vince at the ceremony and holding his hand as we faced each other :) I felt like I was so excited and nervous and as soon as I held his hand all my nerves went away and it was pure bliss. My second favorite moment was after the wedding, we sat out on Mission Bay in beach chairs and relived every part of the day together! It was so nice to take some time time to soak it all in!

I think the most important advice is to be in the moment from the minute you wake up in the morning. I know everyone says this, but the day goes by so fast and it’s important live every moment as it comes. I strongly recommend hiring a wedding coordinator for the day of so that you can really relax the previous week and the day of knowing that someone else is monitoring the timeline, telling you where to go, and working with the vendors.

The processional song was “Sea Breezes” by Tyrone Wells and the recessional was “I’m on Top of the World” by Imagine Dragons. We went with less traditional songs that were more a reflection of us as couple :) Our first dance was “I Choose You” by Sara Bareilles. My mom and I danced to “Mama’s Song” by Carrie Underwood and it remixed into “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” by Cindy Lauper — that was so fun! Vince and his mom danced to “My Wish” by Rascal Flatts and that was super sweet.

I have to say, my favorite photo of the day was when Jason, our pastor, pronounced us husband and wife. The picture just radiates with so much joy and excitement and I smile every time I see it!
